Floor Care
Looking after your new carpet
Most spills and stains will respond to one of the following three cleaning methods in conjunction with the chart below. Act quickly and always pad up excess liquid with plenty of soft white tissue before commencing each sequence. Scrape up solids with a knife.
A - A teaspoon of 'wool wash' detergent to half a pint of warm water, sponge gently and then rinse with clean, warm water.
B - Sponge with household dry cleaning fluid or spray in accordance with makers instructions.
C - Sponge gently with a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts clean warm water. Leave for 15 minutes and then sponge wit clean water.
A little care and attention will prolong the life of your new carpet and help it keep its good looks. Use a door mat to remove excess dirt and grit. Remember, some rubber soled shoes and trainers can tear out tufts - slippers give carpets an easy time. Use castor cups under heavy furniture. Vacuum your new carpet regularly and if you see a tuft sticking up never pull it out, simply use nail scissors to clip it level with the rest.
Shading
In common with all pile fabrics, from suede to velvet, carpets may shade. This occurs when the pile is brushed or lays in different directions. This is not a fault and will not affect the wear of your carpet.
